About

JackieJackie has been a Registered Nurse for over 25 years with a passion for combining the best of Eastern and Western techniques, known as Complementary Medicine. Along with an anesthesiologist, she started a Prepare for Surgery Program for one of the largest HMOs in the San Francisco Bay Area, preparing patients for major surgery utilizing relaxation techniques and guided imagery. Jackie completed a research project using this program in preparing patients for surgery. She also developed a drop-in clinic at the HMO for employees, staffed by volunteers certified in Reiki. She holds certifications in Guided Imagery, Clinical Hypnotherapy, Biofeedback and Reiki. She completed a four-year Mystery School studying Native American tradition and healing through sweat lodge and vision questing. She has been studying with Adyashanti for the past six years, a spiritual teacher whose focus is awakening. Her favorite time away is a silent retreat with Adyashanti in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Jackie offers the following services:

Guided Imagery – uses imagery and suggestion to influence the body. Where the mind goes the body follows. These images strongly influence attitudes and beliefs in order to help heal and change body responses. It’s safe, and anyone can do it. Guided Imagery is utilized by athletes for performance enhancement.

Hypnotherapy – utilizes deep relaxation to produce an altered state of consciousness. In this state, the mind is very suggestible and accepts thoughts to produce beneficial changes. Guided imagery is one form of hypnotherapy, although in guided imagery one need not attain an altered state of consciousness in order to receive benefits.

Biofeedback – gives one immediate feedback on the body’s response to changes in thoughts. One common measurement is skin temperature, which can increase several degrees in a few minutes. Biofeedback helps one make the connection between mind and body and shows the power of the mind over the body. It very quickly makes one a “believer.”

Meditation – Silent sitting with intention. Allowing the mind to quiet without trying to
control it.

Reiki – is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. It is typically administered by a laying on of hands to move energy, or Chi, to a balanced state.

Jackie offers private sessions working with the client in finding the best modality for the desired goal. Her expertise in both Eastern and Western medicine makes her particularly  desirable in working within both medical models to promote optimum wellness. The following are just a few examples of conditions that lend themselves extremely well to these techniques:

  • High blood pressure
